Jan von Appen

Jan von Appen is a visiting scholar with the Technology Evaluation, Modeling, and Assessment (TEMA) group. He focuses on distributed energy resources (DER) and their integration into the grid. During the last months, his research focused on assessing the technical and economical potential of DER to provide ancillary services. His work includes using DER-CAM to evaluate the possibilities of supplying reactive power and voltage support with microgrids. He is pursuing his studies in business administration and electrical engineering at the Darmstadt University of Technology, Germany.
