Technical Support on the Webcast
If you encounter any problems on connecting to the server for the
webcast:
- First please try rebooting your machine and reconnecting with the
steps
above. Please try this twice if it doesn't work the first time.
- If the above does not fix your connection problem, please call
(510 486
7439) or email Terry Chan with
your
name and phone number and he will call you back in the order your
message
was received.
Reasons Why the Web Cast May Not Work for You
As mentioned above, the software has been tested on several
platforms
and browsers but there are two main reasons why you may not be able to
successfully participate in a web conference.
- Most web conferencing software require network ports 1503 and
8081 to
be
accessible from outside of your organization. If your
organization
has a restrictive firewall in place (e.g., such as U.S. Department of
Energy),
you will not be able to participate in any external webconferences from
within your network.
- Virtually all web conferencing software that use a browser
interface
require
you to have the ability to download and install Java applets for your
web
browser. If you are running Microsoft Windows NT, 2000, or XP
operating
systems and your systems administrator has severely restricted your
permissions
such that you cannot install these applets, you will not able to
successfully
participate in a web conference unless your systems administrator
establishes
the connection to the server for you.
Hence we recommend you try to connect early to identify and resolve any
problems. If you would like to test your connection ahead of
time,
please email Terry Chan or call
510
486 7439 and we will arrange a test.
